Social media and Mr. Charlie Sheen, all I can say is that as his bad boy image has turned into self-destruction he seems to be liked even more in the social media world. Not only is he using multiple forms of social media but he is exploiting them to keep himself in the limelight. Also, he has been using social media to defend his case and put a positive spin on his side of the story. Using Twitter and other forms of social media allow him to socially construct how he wants the public to view the events as they are occurring. He has been able to exaggerate everything that has been happening to keep media outlets focused on him. He has about 2,888,633 followers on his Twitter account the last time I looked. When Charlie first opened his account he set a record by reaching a million users faster than lady Gaga or any other celebrity. Charlie’s story is far from over but I am sure that he will still be in the news tomorrow because of his extensive use of social media.
Your so right about Charlie Sheen and social media, Kenny. Sheen is exploiting social media to create a false persona of himself, if anyone actually believe his message. I was recently on vacation during spring break with my daughter and a friend of hers, and the friend was totally obsessed with following Sheen on Twitter. His image in mainstream media may have taken a hit, but he has used social media to become a bigger hit. Crazy or smart, someone tell me?
