Have you heard of the new app for the I phone? The app is called color. Let me explain what its all about. The Color iPhone app that has just been launched on the Apple iTunes App Store and has been deigned to create a complete new and innovative way to use your mobile for social networking using your camera and photographs. The new Color application allows you to see other users photographs that have been taken using Color from people within 100ft your location. Providing you with a complete stream of photos to record everything going on at an event. The Color application chooses which pictures you see from the continuous stream based on your location and how often you have been sharing photos with someone else. Every photo and video taken with the Color app is public, not only to the people you consider your friends, but also to any one within your proximity, even strangers. Color is already available to download for free from iTunes and will soon also be available to download on Android as well. I just thinks this app takes stalking to a new level. LEt me know what you think.
I have heard about this through the presentation in class, and in another personal selling class I'm in. I am not sure how I feel about this app, it allows a lot access to what may be personal content. However, I do think it would be neat to have if you are attending a concert or going some place that has many celebrities. But I do not know if I would want other viewing my pictures. Not to mention all those people who think it would be funny to take inappropriate pictures and have them shared among friends and strangers alike.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought when I heard abou this app was that it sounded very strange and could lead to potential problems but the more I think about it I don't find this to be true. I think it would be hard to stalk some using this because you would never know who is around you until the pictures are posted. The only way for the people to find each other then is to actually use the pictures to locate someone in the same venue. I think this sounds really neat like Emily said for things like concerts and such but I don't know how well it would be received in day to day life.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily. I think that if I were using this app at a concert or major sporting event, and several other people were using the app at the same time, it would get annoying with my phone constantly blowing up. There could be literally hundreds of people within a 100 square feet. I do think it's a neat technological advancement, but I do not see myself using this app any time soon.
ReplyDeleteKenny, nice post. I got word of Color.com from my daughter, who is in marketing and is into Social Media big time. I believe that it is a great concept that probably needs a bit of time to work out all the bugs. I do see a problem with having your contact information "out there" so to speak. I can see uses in public gatherings, and how it could be used in places consumers would go to show friends what they are looking at. Investors are spending a ton of money on this app., so I'm pretty sure that it will evolve much like Facebook.
ReplyDeleteVic I just purchased an I phone this weekend and love it. I Downloaded color and started using it with my dad it is so cool. I see people will stating catching on once the name of this app is more public. Then I believe it will have the potential like facebook.
